Make the salad.In a bowl, add the shredded lettuce, red onion, and pepperoncini. Spoon in the mayo, splash in the vinegar, add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is coated. It should be creamy, not watery.
Toast the bread (optional).Slice the hoagie rolls open. Toast lightly if you want some crunch. Skip it if you are in a hurry.
